Let Your Soul Glo at Shogun Inn

I'm staying in Okinawa this week, so I'd like to share my review of the Shogun Inn, which is on Kadena.

First, based on their own criteria, I found them to be excellent in some areas.  The check-in went well, the room was clean, and supplied, and it was serviced properly during my stay.

My bed at Shogun Inn was very comfortable

Shogun Inn Latrine

The armchair looked like a prop from a Soul Glo commercial
So, as you can see, it looks like a very nice place, but here are my concerns:

First, I think that cloth seats are a mistake, not just at the Shogun Inn, but any place where you have many people sitting, and possibly eating, or drinking, cloth seats are not the way to go.  How can they possibly be clean?  Looking at this armchair, you can see that the headrest has been discolored to the point that it looks like it has been occupied by hundreds of greased heads.  And, the scent of ass in the room lead me to believe that hundreds of sweaty naked bottoms have occupied these cushions, instead of the other possibility, which is that someone cooked chitterlings in the room.

My second concern is that internet was extremely slow.  The speed was reminiscent of the 1990s.   Accessing some websites, or watching videos on Youtube was very problematic. The Inn gives you access to many networks, without password, and I often had to change to another network, when the network that I was on stalled.
The room had a D-Link router, model WBR-1310

And finally, in the latrine, water pitifully pours upon you, as you take a sprinkle, instead of a shower. I was surprised, because I didn't think that folks on an island, where it rains regularly, would have to conserve water.

So I addressed my concerns on the survey, and comment form.  I hope that they will improve.  Like I said, the facility is excellent in some respects, but should really address the deficiencies I have addressed.   I hope that your stay goes well.

Bose Sound Linkin'

This morning, I did a video of me linking our MacBook, and my iPhone to our Bose Sound Link Wireless Speaker.  It's not as easy as it looks, so I thought there could be other folks who may search YouTube for a demonstration, rather than read the instructions, like I did.

About Me

Ohayo is how we say good morning in Japan.  More politely it's, Ohayo gozaimasu.  With Ohayo sounding like Ohio, I've always thought it funny to greet my son in the morning, "Ohayo, Player!" Get it?   As in Ohio Player?

My username is John Wesley, my first and middle names, first given to my father.  John is for St. John Baptist Church, my grandmother's church, and Wesley is for Wesley United Methodist Church, my grandfather's church.  Both churches are in Baton Rouge, LA.  My father said that my grandfather told him to always spell out his middle name, so that his church would have equal representation, I guess.  I don't know about my dad, but I've always done a bad job of spelling out my middle name, when asked for my name.  Most forms or documents only require the middle initial, but I've been spelling out Wesley, lately, to represent my grandfather.

My father's side of the family has roots in West Baton Rouge Parish, and my mother's side of the family has roots in Vermillion Parish.  Over the past year, I've learned many things about my family, so I created this blog, to write the stories I hear from family members, and to write stories about my own personal experiences, as well.

So, as long the world has electricity, and internet, there will be a place future family historians can go to learn about me and our family.
