About Me

Ohayo is how we say good morning in Japan.  More politely it's, Ohayo gozaimasu.  With Ohayo sounding like Ohio, I've always thought it funny to greet my son in the morning, "Ohayo, Player!" Get it?   As in Ohio Player?

My username is John Wesley, my first and middle names, first given to my father.  John is for St. John Baptist Church, my grandmother's church, and Wesley is for Wesley United Methodist Church, my grandfather's church.  Both churches are in Baton Rouge, LA.  My father said that my grandfather told him to always spell out his middle name, so that his church would have equal representation, I guess.  I don't know about my dad, but I've always done a bad job of spelling out my middle name, when asked for my name.  Most forms or documents only require the middle initial, but I've been spelling out Wesley, lately, to represent my grandfather.

My father's side of the family has roots in West Baton Rouge Parish, and my mother's side of the family has roots in Vermillion Parish.  Over the past year, I've learned many things about my family, so I created this blog, to write the stories I hear from family members, and to write stories about my own personal experiences, as well.

So, as long the world has electricity, and internet, there will be a place future family historians can go to learn about me and our family.
